How to Join GW-datasci

🏛️ Welcome to GW-datasci!

What is GW-datasci? 🏛️

GW-datasci is GW’s GitHub Enterprise organization for Data Science.

Here, you’ll be able to access course materials, collaborate on projects, and manage repositories in a secure, shared space.

Requirements to Join GW-datasci

Before joining, make sure you have:

  • âś… A GitHub account registered with your @gwu.edu email
  • âś… Approval from your GW Data Science instructor.
Access to GW-datasci

If your instructor has not invited you to GW-datasci, you will not have access.

Please do not contact your instructor in advance — they will notify you if access is required.

Join gwuniversity GitHub Organization

Follow these steps to join GW’s parent GitHub Enterprise organization, gwuniversity:

1. Create a GitHub Account

If you don’t already have one, follow the instructions in our Data Science Setup.

2. Access the gwuniversity/GWUniversity-SelfInvite Repository

Visit: https://github.com/gwuniversity/GWUniversity-SelfInvite

3. Submit an Invite Request

Open an issue in the repository with the title:

RaiseHigh @githubusername

Then submit the issue.

4. Confirm Membership

After a short processing period, confirm you’ve been added by checking the Organizations section of your GitHub profile.

Join GW-datasci GitHub Sub-Organization

Follow these steps to join GW’s sub-organization, GW-datasci:

1. Notify Your Instructor

Once you’ve joined gwuniversity, send your instructor a screenshot (like the one above) to confirm.

2. Accept the Invitation

Your instructor will then send you an invite to the GW-datasci sub-organization.

Accept it from the email notification or directly in GitHub.

You can verify your membership by checking your profile’s Organizations section again.

Once confirmed, you’ll have access to your spot inside a GitHub Teams for your particular class section.
